What in the world are PLR Spreadsheets? Now, I know what you might be thinking, "Spreadsheets? How exciting can that be?" But I know you are going to be pleasantly suprised by what you can do with spreadsheets these days.
PLR spreadsheets are a fantastic way to create more products for your business quickly. Plus the popularity of using plr spreadsheets is rising. So it's definitely time to take advantage of them.
Using PLR spreadsheets gives you a great starting point, as with any type of plr product. It gives you a visual starting point and I don't know about you, but I find that helps so much, and seeing something other than a blank spreadsheet gets my idea brain working!
I wasn't exactly sure what Spreadsheets were, I knew about Excel Spreadsheets but not Google Sheets. So what are they and why should we be using them?
Understanding PLR Spreadsheets
First, let's break down what PLR spreadsheets actually are. In simple terms, they are pre-made spreadsheet templates that you can purchase and use as your own. That's right, someone else does all the working of creating a well-designed spreadsheet, and you get to put your name on it and use it for your business. Especially when they come with all the formulas in place.
TIP: Always make yourself a copy on any spreadsheet or template first. This way if things go wrong you still have the original to start from again!
If you run any type of digital business why should you think about adding PLR spreadsheet into your business? Well first off all, every business owner has some need for spreadsheets. This could be just for tracking business expenses and doing taxes. Or you might wish to have spreadsheets that you can sell to your customers and clients.
PLR spreadsheets are all about saving you time and money. Why spend days on creating a gorgeous looking spreadsheet, when you could create one in hours?
Let's discouss using PLR spreadsheets in more detail. Then you will have a better understanding of why you want them in your business. Plus I will show you how to start using them, even if you are a total newbie to Google Sheets.

As I mentioned before PLR spreadsheets are a great starting point or foundation on which you can build on.
I am sure you have taken shortcuts before?
Have you ever used a cake mix instead of baking from scratch?
Have you used a gravy mix instead of making it?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing that at all, especially when you are short of time. But what if you don't know how to create something from scratch? It just makes plain sense to use something that gets you started on the right foot.
That is the exact concept of what a PLR spreadsheet does for you. They are pre-created spreadsheet templates that you can purchase and use for your own business needs.
TIP: PLR stands for private label rights. This means that when you buy a PLR Spreadsheet, or other product, you get the rights to use it, modify it, and in many cases, put your own brand on it as if you created it yourself.

CUSTOMIZING TIP: At the very least change out the fonts, add your brand colors & logo and adjust the title/name of the spreadsheet.
Getting Started with PLR Spreadsheets
Google Sheets are just one of the tools that are offered by Google. They are part of the free, web based Apps, which also include Google Docs, Google Keep, Google Slides and Google Forms. Mobile users can download apps so that they can be used on various devices.
They can be edited online and shared easily. This means you won't lose your content if your hard drive fails. Plus it helps free up space on your computer.
Importing PLR Spreadsheets into Google Sheets: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Step 1 - After purchasing your new PLR spreadsheet you will be given a link to the file. This will open up in your browser and you should be asked to make a copy of it. Just go to File and a drop down menu appears, select Copy.
- Once you have copied your sheet you will see the word 'Copy' in the new spreadsheet. This is the one you will work on.
Customizing Your PLR Spreadsheet: Making It Uniquely Yours
There are several simple steps you can take to customize your PLR spreadsheet. Changing colors is quick and easy and gives your new spreadsheet a totally different look.
- 1Select the Cell with the color you want to change
- 2Go to the Fill Bucket tool
- 3Select your new color
- 4Repeat for all the colors you wish to change
Let's change the font next:
- 1Select the Cell with the text that you want to change
- 2Go to the Fill Bucket tool
- 3Select the font drop done menu
- 4Choose your new font
- 5Select the size of your font - use the - and + keys to decrese or increase the size
CUSTOMIZING TIP: Try to incorporate your brand colors, fonts and logo for a cohesive look and feel to your new spreadsheets.
Let's add your logo.
- 1Go to Insert - Image
- 2Choose Insert image over cells
- 3A new box appears navigate to your logo or image
- 4It will insert into your spreadsheet
- 5Resize your logo and drag, using the handles and then drag to your desired position in the spreadsheet
In this example our final step is to change the colors in the tables.
- 1To change the color behind the text select the Cell that you want to change
- 2Go to fill bucket and choose your new color
- 3Use the picker tool to select a matching color from your logo
- 4This color will now appear in the Custom section
- 5Repeat for the other cells on the spreadsheet
Next let's change all those squares, it's not as daunting as you might think! Let's change a row of the check boxes
- 1Click on the first check box in the column that you want to change the color of
- 2Using your Shift key click on the last box - this highlights the entire row
- 3Go to the Text Color area and select your color
- 4This color will now appear in the Custom section
- 5Repeat for the other cells on the spreadsheet
The monthly section with all those boxes is done in a similar fashion. Click on the first checkbox under January and then holding the shift key go the very last box. This highlights them all and then select your new Text color as you did above.
Your PLR spreadsheet is now not a plr spreadsheet it has been customized for your business. You can use it in your own business, or resell it to your customers or clients.
PLEASE NOTE: Remember to check your PLR license terms when it comes to reselling or giving away your new spreadsheets.
Choosing the Right PLR Spreadsheets for Your Business
TIP: Not all PLR products including spreadsheets are created equally. You don't want to just look for the cheapest spreadsheets you can find. Quality PLR Spreadsheets are going to be more robust and have better features to them. Of course looking for coupons and specials is always advisible too, just please don't buy the cheapest version out there.
How do you know which plr spreadsheets to purchase?
Q. What is your purpose for buying a new spreadsheet template?
Are you using it in your business for yourself, or do you want to stock your store with it? Or do you want to sell it on marketplaces such as Etsy? You actually might want to do all three! I have done this myself many times.
If your only purpose is using it for your business then it's a pretty straight forward decision. Make sure the spreadsheet has all the content that you need. For example if it's a Expense tracker. Does it have all the columns you need, if not can new ones be added? If so then go ahead and make your purchase.
If you want to resell it in anyway make sure you read the stores PLR License to understand what you can and cannot do with the PLR spreadsheet.
PLEASE NOTE: Not all PLR Licenses are the same. It's important to understand your rights before you make your purchase. If the license isn't clear then contact the shop before you purchase.
Selling Your PLR Spreadsheets
The biggest thing to remember is that when you sell your spreadsheet, you are now selling it with Personal Use rights only. This means that your customers may only use it for themselves and are not allowed to resell it.
Once you have edited and customized your plr spreadsheet you can start to add it as a product to your store to sell.
You will need to price your spreadsheet accordingly. I like to go to Etsy and search for the type of spreadsheet I am planning on selling. Then you can see what they are offering and how they are pricing their spreadsheet.
It's often good practice to make your price one that is neither too cheap or too expensive. So pricing in the middle is a good option to start with. You can always run a sale or an introductory pricing option once it's in your store.
In the image above you can see that the varitey of Spreadsheets available on Etsy range from planner and budget spreadsheets. To meal planner and weightloss spreadsheets.
The prices range from just over $2.00 to just under $25.00. This will vary depending on how complex the spreadsheet is.
If your spreadsheet is just one tab, as in the Marketing Schedule one in our example is, then you would price yours at the lower range. If you have multiple sheets with complex formulas then it only makes sense to price it much higher.
